Important Announcement
We are in the process of reassessing our current student waitlist for the Aeronautics Maintenance Technology program. An important program announcement was sent to all students on the waitlist via their hawaii.edu email address in March 2025.
Effective Fall 2026, the following will be required to be completed prior to entry into the AERO program. This criteria has been identified as critical foundational knowledge needed for success in the program:
- Completion of the following courses with a “C” grade or higher:
- ENG 100 (Composition I)
- MATH 103 (College Algebra) or higher
- PHYS 100 & 100L (Survey of Physics and Lab) or higher
- SP 151 (Personal and Public Speech)
- Additional Requirements:
- Good academic standing
- Must attend a Mandatory Information Session

About the Program
Our Aeronautics Maintenance Technology (AERO) program is one of our more popular programs. It is designed to prepare you for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Power Plant Maintenance certification and for employment in aviation maintenance careers. You’ll obtain knowledge and practical experience in such areas as hydraulics, sheet metal, electrical installation and troubleshooting, welding, the use of hand-held power tools, engine theory, troubleshooting and repair.
